Fine young men of Uganda

We may knock Generation Y as the "Me" generation, but I am full of admiration for three young men I have met over here who are definitely not all about Me.

Bosco Segawa

Aged 28, Bosco, once an orphan living on the streets, is the founder and Director of M-LISADA, a children's home and non-profit founded on music and the formation of the M-LISADA Brass Band.  M-LISADA reclaims Kampala street children, feeds, clothes and shelters them and teaches them music and life skills.

Koojo Justus Kojax

Aged 25, Justus has also founded a non-profit, Kitenge Africa Foundation, that cares for Kampala street children and provides them with a place to eat, bathe, get clothing and counseling.  Justus is a professional photographer and also founded a tour and safari company, 1000 Shades of Green, whose profits are used to fund the Kitenge Africa Foundation.

David Kiggundu

Aged 24, David is funding his studies in accounting and finance through his artwork and is also paying primary school fees for 6-7 orphans and teaching them art skills.  David's father was blinded in a traffic accident and his mother died so he is supporting his extended family
Jackson is an excellent cook whom I've been teaching baking skills.  His dream is to become a businessman, owning his own gas station with a bakery shop on the premises.  Jackson's father died in 2002 and his mother left, so he is supporting his two younger sisters through school in his home town near Mbarara in western Uganda: Fiona is in Primary 5 and Janet is in Primary 2.  Jackson finished school after Senior 4; he couldn't afford the school fees to pursue his studies further.  Jackson comes from a farming family and has a herd of 20 cattle.  He sells the milk and meat to support his sisters.
